AEK Athens visits the King Power Stadium on Thursday, December 10. The Greek side sits rock bottom of Group G, having won just one of their five Europa League matches this season.

After assessing the bookmakers’ odds, I provide my Leicester City vs. AEK Athens prediction and betting pick.

Leicester (1.33) won the reverse fixture 2-1 in Greece, and 10bet clearly thinks that Brendan Rodgers’ side will do the double over AEK (7.75) this season.

Night

With qualification already in the bag, Rodgers may choose to rest some of his key players on Thursday. However, the Foxes have more than enough quality to claim maximum points.

Leicester City vs. AEK Athens Preview

Having taken ten points from a possible 12 across the opening four matchdays, Leicester secured their place in the knockout stages with two games to spare. The Foxes kicked things off by beating every team in their group before recording a thrilling 3-3 draw with Braga.

But Rodgers’ men were stunned by underdogs Zorya Luhansk last week. Despite racking up 14 attempts on the Ukrainians’ goal, Leicester eventually lost 1-0. The defeat enabled Braga to move level with the Foxes at the top of Group G.

However, Leicester returned to winning ways on Sunday, seeing off Sheffield United 2-1. A late Jamie Vardy winner handed the Foxes all three points at Bramall Lane, ending a run of two straight EPL defeats in the process.

Vardy now has 11 goals in 12 appearances this term, including two in as many Europa League outings. The veteran striker scored the winning goal against AEK back in October before netting the equalizer against Braga on Matchday 4. Needless to say, Vardy is likely to add to his tally on Thursday.

AEK suffered back-to-back defeats at the start of their Europa League campaign, but an eye-catching 4-1 victory over Zorya Luhansk saw Massimo Carrera’s side pick up their first points of the season on Matchday 3.

But the good times didn’t last long.

After suffering a 3-0 defeat to the Ukrainians in the reverse fixture, AEK was thrashed 4-2 by Braga last week. Not only have the Yellow & Blacks picked up just three points from a possible 15, but they have also conceded 13 goals along the way.

AEK has slipped to fourth in the Greek Super League following a 2-1 defeat to Panathinaikos on Sunday. Carrera’s men were enjoying a decent winning streak on home soil, but they are now struggling on all fronts.

In fairness, AEK gave Leicester a run for their money in the reverse fixture. The Greek side pushed the Foxes all the way in October, but I’m confident that Rodgers’ men will get the job done this time around.

Carrera’s side has nothing to play for on Matchday 6, while Leicester will be aiming to secure the top spot in Group G and qualify for the Round of 32 as a seeded team.
